Space X breaks ground on new launch facility in Texas

Space X the private company leading in innovations of space technology has just broke ground near Brownsville Texas to build their new multi-million dollar launch facility. Several states were in the bid for luring Space X to their state which include California and Florida. Gov. Rick Perry succeeded in securing Space X to his state spending around $15 million.

The site near Brownsville Texas, called Boca Chica Beach, is a great choice location. As it is closer to the equator than even Cape Canaveral, being closer to the equator will deliver more power off the Earths gravity, helping to launch rockets using less power. The new facility is scheduled to start building right away and to be completed in 2016. The new site should bring in thousands of more jobs to the area.

Space Exploration Technologies Corporation, or SpaceX, is a space transport services company headquartered in Hawthorne, California. It was founded in 2002 by former PayPal entrepreneur and Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk. SpaceX was founded with the goal of reducing space transportation costs and enabling the colonization of Mars. It has developed the Falcon 1 and Falcon 9 launch vehicles, both of which were designed from conception to eventually become reusable. SpaceX also developed theDragon spacecraft, which are flown into orbit by the Falcon 9 launch vehicle, initially transporting cargo and later planned to carry humans to the International Space Station and other destinations.
