BREAKING: A suspicious pipe shaped device was found duct taped under a bridge in Atlanta Georgia.
Authorities have evacuated the area and closed the major freeways running in that area. A bomb squad has been called in to investigate with a robot.
A passerby called 911 after spotting the tube-shaped package duct-taped to the east side of the 14th Street bridge shortly after 1 p.m., forcing police to close the Downtown Connector just before 2 p.m.(Scroll down for Video of Bomb Squad exploding the Device)
This comes just hours after another bomb threats was made on an Embassy building in Brussels Belgium. Terror threats are on the rise worldwide on western nations, and its only growing.
Police are reviewing cctv that was in the area where the pipe package was discovered.
There is no other information at this time. Any updates will be posted.
4:48PM EST UPDATE– The device was detonated at the bridge about 3:55 p.m., according to police. Engineers then inspected the 14th Street Bridge and determined it was safe, a DOT spokeswoman said. It was not immediately known what the device was or what it contained.
