Cyclone Pam Hits Vanuatu VIDEO
Cyclone Pam, a category 5 storm with winds of up to 165 mph hit the Island chain of Vanuatu late Friday night local time.
Thrashing waves and high winds causing tons of damage to the island nation continue to rock the residents. (See Video Below)
The Vanuatu National Disaster Management Office issued a red alert for the entire island chain.
The most severe impacts from Pam would occur with the closest approach of the eyewall through Saturday morning, local time, in the southern islands of Vanuatu, including Shefa and Tafea provinces.
According to Vanuatu Meteorological Services, very destructive winds, very rough to phenomenal seas, and heavy swells will affect particularly the central and southern islands. Storm surge flooding, flash flooding and landslides are also expected.
